Haute horology does not necessarily mean complicated watches, but raising watchmaking to the level of art. Romain Gauthier’s newest timepiece, the Insight Micro-Rotor, does exactly that, with an elegant design that’s overwhelming and in the same time somewhat discreet. The independent Swiss watchmaker is perhaps most famous for its iconic Logical One timepiece, but if you ask us the brand’s new design is equally stunning.
The name Insight comes from Romain Gauthier’s desire to give owners a full view of the complex inner workings of the watch, which is why most of the movement’s impressive mechanism may be viewed through the dial and the sapphire display case back.
The Insight Micro-Rotor shows off a 39.5 mm case and will be apparently available in 18k red gold and platinum with matching dials – white enamel, black enamel, or blue enamel – but what’s really interesting is that each dial version will be produced in a limited run of just 10 pieces, adding a touch of exclusivity to this bespoke watch.
Water resistance is a very decent 50 meters, while the power reserve is a healthy 80 hours. To be honest, it is refreshing to see haute horology brands taking a step back and focusing on the pure essentials of watchmaking.
The new Romain Gauthier Insight Micro-Rotor seems to fit all tastes, boasting a timeless elegance and the perfect balance between form and function. If you like it just as much as we do, you should know that the 18k red gold version is priced at 75,000 Swiss francs, whereas the model in platinum will set you back 88,000 Swiss francs.
