I mean, just look at it; isn’t it menacing, looking exactly like a predator searching for its next meal? Ironically, that’s not far from the truth. You see, the man who envisioned the astonishing BMW Titan Concept, Turkish designer Mehmet Erdem, says that he drew inspiration from the scariest/most terrifying predator alive today: the great white shark.
And even though no one knows if the BMW Titan Concept will ever see the light of day, that doesn’t mean you should’t be afraid of it. Take the Boogeyman, for example – the simple mention of his name might still scare you, years after those childhood stories.
But the Titan wasn’t really designed to scare people off, it was built to devour all land speed records at Bonneville Salt Flats, based on a dream that consists of nothing but one feature: speed.
If you take a closer look at the concept, you realize we’re dealing with an alluring beauty here. I mean, the back end seems to resemble a shark tail, the sides resemble fins, while the air-intake was designed to look like a pair of gills; but this bike is not all about good looks.
Its nose has been designed to reduce air resistance, leading the air right into the air intake points for a highly efficient ventilation. The middle part of the bike houses the engine, that’s fully covered by the body to make way for an ergonomic seat and the instrument cluster, which also contribute to the bike’s extreme aerodynamics.
In the back, the main design elements are the swingarm and the tire, with the first covering the shaft and suspension to get a clean design and also to connect the powerful turbo engine to the rear tire of this bike. This is exactly how we imagine future sports bikes should look like.
We doubt any of us will be breaking any speed records riding the BMW Titan Concept, but one thing’s for sure: at least some dreams will get haunted tonight. We’ll leave it to you to speculate on what engine should be fitted onto this futuristic motorcycle, and how much power one would need to literally ride towards the future.
We’re heading to Kohl’s to get back to the real life and who knows? If this bike will ever get the green light, we’d love to find an offer on Discountrue for it.
