There aren’t too many trikes out there that can be enjoyed on the roads right now, or for a quick spin around the track. Sure, there are a couple of interesting three-wheeled motorcycles, but what about cars?

We instantly think about the Reliant Robin and tell to ourselves ‘no way!’ but Polaris seems to have made this idea to work brilliantly, thanks to their unique Slingshot, which offers an incredible driving experience and nothing but hair-rising thrills.

The American company has recently taken the wraps off the 2016 Polaris Slingshot SL LE, an extraordinary three-wheeled machine which is powered by a 2.4-liter engine, that’s good for 173 hp and 166 pound feet of torque, all these ponies going to the rear wheel through a five speed manual transmission.

Those output numbers might seem insignificant when you think about the supercars on today’s roads, but this thing has only 3 wheels, which could mean less traction and more fun. Moreover, it weighs in at 1,743 pounds (or 790 kg) and rides just 5 inches off the ground.

All the while, the wide open cabin offers clear 360 degrees of access and visibility, not to mention a true racing experience. Starting off at $26,999, the new Polaris Slingshot SL LE is definitely a unique ride. It’s up to you to discover how enjoyable it really is.
