Created in collaboration with Giugiaro Design (a company known for its expertise in automobile design, acquired a few years ago by Lamborghini), the Astron Solar GPS Chronograph Limited Edition is another foray by Seiko* in the world of GPS-controlled timepieces.
What makes these watches so special is the fact that they are in permanent contact with four or more GPS satellites, ensuring you automatically always have the exact time, wherever in the world you might find yourself, as long as the dial is exposed to enough sunlight to keep the piece running.
The dial is designed to be easy to read in any conditions, thanks to its unique typography, as well as the use of red and green color accents. It comes with either a black crocodile leather strap, with a bright red inner lining and red-white-green stitching, or a “black hard coated” titanium bracelet with white ceramic inserts. The color scheme is clearly inspired by the Italian Tricolore, a nice touch applied by Giugiaro Design which adds an extra bit of personality to the watch.
The intriguing Seiko Astron Giugiaro limited edition comprises 5,000 timepieces and has been released alongside six non-limited versions. Available starting with June 2015, Seiko Astron Solar GPS Chronograph Limited Edition designed by Giugiaro Design comes with a price tag of $3,400.
