The internet is abuzz these days with information and rumors about the release of the iPhone 6, which means other tech news, especially mobile device-related, can easily go under the radar. One such item of news is the release of Samsung’s new Note Edge phablet, which was unveiled a few days ago in Berlin alongside the Note 4.
The two devices are virtually identical in terms of technical specs, but the Note Edge is definitely much more interesting in appearance. Its distinguishing feature is the curved portion of the screen to phablet’s right, which works independently of the main display and creates an effect reminiscent of an infinity pool. The curved area adds another 160 pixels to the overall resolution, which is now 1,600 x 2,560 pixels. It can turn on separately from the main screen and can act as a secondary notification screen, providing information like the time, alarms, or news headlines. This new feature can also be quite helpful when using different functions or apps: for instance when you’re capturing an image, you won’t have to touch the primary display to take the photograph.
The Note Edge will be available in the US on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile later this fall, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
