Roger Dubuis will be presenting The Velvet Collection on the occasion of the 2012 Geneva Watch Show. Mainly inspired by the world of the Diva, this audacious series has its peak represented by an 18-carat pink-gold watch, encrusted with 66 diamonds totaling 1.33 carats.
Other features of this gorgeous timepiece are the RD821 caliber auto-winding mechanical movement and the 36 mm dial, which comes with Roman numerals for a supplementary sense of elegance. An interesting fact about the dial is that it seems to be floating between the exterior circle and the central barrel, letting out the impression of a “trompe l’ceil on two levels”.
The beautifully polished and brushed-sunray effect middle-section of the watch has Roger Dubuis’ name imprinted on it. Other parts that contribute to this timepiece’s exquisiteness are the 6 and 12 hour markers, which are made of pink gold. Furthermore, the number of diamonds fitted on the watch is increased by the 1.65-carat-summing 196 diamonds on the “aura of light” bracelet, while the cabochon-glass curved-crystal dial-covering is another sign of opulence.
A feature that proves the originality of this watch is the Geneva seal-marked hand-decorated in-house-manufactured movement of the Roger Dubuis Velvet. So, this is a demonstration of how both efficient and beautiful this timepiece functions. Furthermore, it also proves its hand-made character and fine manufacture.
