Our most prized possessions feature the latest in technology and looks, but they lack one thing – that is durability. Although long-term resistance can be achievable through large amounts of money spent on different upgrades, they finally fail too. Now, Nissan presented us their technology, a material that could make your precious iPhone stay “healthy” for a lot longer.
Their newly-developed Scratch Shield Self-Healing iPhone Case is based on technology developed back in 2005, efficiently used on Infinitis and Nissans. It features a flexible and elastic polyrotaxane paint that makes out the scratch-free gel-like shield, its chemical structure being able to mend itself back to its original shape once it is damaged.
This process can take from a few hours up to days, depending on the gravity of the situation. The main body of the case is made of ABS plastic, a material so strong that it has known its use in car industry. The Nissan and Nissan Juke brands are imprinted on the case, which fits tightly around the phone.
After the current tests that this technology is undergoing in Europe, it is expected to be available worldwide by the end of 2012.

interesting, seems it seems more a conversation piece than the actual need for healing scratches, wonder what the price will be…
