The bond between cars and watches has been constantly tightened throughout time, ever since the first ever car came out of the factory gates. Louis Vuitton has been recently trying to offer some sort of bridge between cars and speed through the Tachometer Tambour Automatic Chronograph.
The exquisite timepiece bears influence from the dashboards of the cars that used to race during the ’70s. It features elegant tones of black, red and grey, along with a strong sporty character.
Some can describe the grey dial as contemporary and vintage altogether. The diminutive, central red hand can be seen at the minute totalizer, and, at the same time, a triple circular tachometric scale allows one to measure the average speed travelled over a kilometer.
An intriguing fact is that the scale on Louis Vuitton’s Tachometer Tambour Automatic Chronograph timepiece makes it possible for the wearer to measure lower speeds, of up to 20 km/h. We said “intriguing” because, usually, regular tachometer scales won’t allow wearers to calculate average speeds lower than 60 km/h.
Powered by an LV 168 automatic caliber and a power reserve of 42 hours, the exquisite Tachometer Tambour Automatic Chronograph watch by Louis Vuitton will be manufactured in a limited edition of 888 pieces. A newer model, adorned with pink gold, will be crafted in fewer numbers – just 88 units. Once again prices have been kept secret.
