IMOCA

This is the new 60 foot IMOCA racing yacht, a marvelous vessel meant to show the exquisite style of Hugo Boss, while promoting the name of the luxury fashion house on the high seas. With composite materials used for its construction, this ultra light vessel is fast and more than capable to handle the harsh conditions of the ocean. Its hull was designed by the renowned industrial designer Konstanin Grcic to feature a lovely honeycomb pattern.

The all black Hugo Boss yacht has been built by the Alex Thomson racing team, featuring an eye catching exterior look and an ergonomic interior design. Two years in the making, this new racing yacht focuses on maximum comfort for high speed navigation and a cozy sleeping area, without sacrificing speed and weight.

IMOCA is actually the second racing yacht built by Alex Thomson’s racing team, with advanced techniques and technologies. A team of 30 worked on this project at Green Marine, in Southampton, UK, with extensive hydrodynamic research and computational fled dynamics studies having been carried out before reaching these stunning dimensions.

The IMOCA Hugo Boss yacht weighs in at 7.5 tonnes, and has an impressive top speed of 35 knots (65 km/h). This complicated vessel includes 2.5 kilometers of rigging and a total of 633 meter squared of sail, while also featuring a one-design mast and keel – as specified by the news rules of the IMOCA class.

It looks marvelous, and ready to race!
