We’ve already seen Piaget’s response to this year’s Only Watch charity auction and hit’s now Harry Winston’s turn to show us real expertise in terms of watchmaking. The Harry Winston Only Watch 2013 Midnight Big Date is, to be honest, a genuinely artistic masterpiece.
By bringing forth this exceptional piece, Harry Winston proves its support for the research of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. For those less fortunate in terms of medical knowledge, this is a degenerative neuromuscular disease affecting a quarter of a million children, adolescents and young adults all across the globe.
Sticking to our timepiece hero, the Midnight Big Date boasts with a fabulous looking bezel garnished with the three famous arches of Harry Winston Fifth Avenue salon in the heart of New York City. The case itself is wonderful as well, having been crafted from 18-carat polished rose gold and measuring 42 mm in diameter. It encompasses a mechanical automatically wound movement comprised of 297 different parts. The stunning-looking circular-grained and hand-chamfered 18-carat rose gold skeletonized rotor is elegantly visible through the caseback, which is made of sapphire crystal.
The Only Watch 2013 auction will be taking place at the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco, after a long tour through the most important cities of the world – Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, New York and Geneva. The auction is organized by the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy – otherwise known as the AMM – under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
