Rock ‘n’ roll isn’t usually associated with European sports cars, but in this case we assume Alfa Romeo is trying to suggest that driving an awesome car is a little bit like playing a musical instrument – in other words, a blend of talent and skill, a form of art. In any case, the collaboration between UK-based Harrison Guitar Works and the world-renowned Italian carmaker is quite an interesting, yet unexpected one.
The Alfa Rome Guitar displays the auto company’s shield-shaped grille, while its body is made from poplar wood with a Maple cap, all finished in Alfa Red. The pick-ups, tail piece, and bridge are milled from solid aluminum billet, with the Alfa Romeo emblem serving as a volume dial. For the special carbon-fiber composite on the back and inside of the guitar, the manufacturer has drawn inspiration from the new Alfa Romeo C4.
Only 11 of these guitars are expected to be made, one for every decade of the car manufacturer’s history, each of them hand-built to order and taking 8 months to complete. The price for one of these is £4,000, or about $6,800.
