We don’t know exactly what Baselworld will be bringing to the front during this year’s edition. What we’re sure of is the “de Grisogono Tondo Tourbillion Gioiello” collection, a series of unique watches with superb looks. As the photos show, the series will easily be part of the collection of timepieces that will stand the test of time through elegance and exquisiteness.
Women with luxurious tastes were in mind for these gorgeous pieces that above all inspire one thing: opulence. The base of the watches is assured by the in-house assembled de Grisogono mechanical movement with an off-centered tourbillion at 8 o’clock.
The collection is composed of three versions of watches, one set with brown diamonds, one with black and the last with white. The case features the renowned oval Tondo XL design that perfectly fits the Calibre 32. The mainplate on the other hand acts as a bejeweled dial, being covered in black, white or brown mother-of-pearl.
The barrel ratchet-wheel at 12 o’clock presents the brand signature and its coat-of-arms. Furthermore, the underside of the caliber features the fabled Côtes de Genéve motif. The total weight of the diamonds the white gold case boasts is around 8 carats, all set in a unique “four grain” gem-placing technique. The crown is decorated with black diamonds, the trademark of the brand, while the bezel is adorned with 33 larger gems.
In terms of techniques, the watch bears water resistance of up to 30 meters, while the power reserve can last up to 72 hours. The galuchat strap accompanies in color the version it is mounted on, in white, brown or black. The hours and minutes hands are beautifully decked in white and pink gold.
The prices of the individual watches are still mysterious to us, although we do know that the series comes in a limited edition of 10 pieces of each version. Perhaps this has to mean a lot regarding their value.
