Three of Britain’s top audio equipment companies, Meridian Audio, Asprey, and ACS, have teamed up with legendary producer Sir George Martin (whose extensive collaboration with The Beatles earned him the moniker “the fifth Beatle”) to create a limited run earphone collection as part of a charity drive to raise funds for the Action on Hearing Loss foundation. The charity is involved in raising funds for research into the treatment and curing of hearing loss and tinnitus.
These earphones are based on the ACS Pro model and feature three perfectly balanced miniature speakers (for bass, mid range, and a tweeter for higher frequencies) inside each of the earpieces. The piece also has a built-in three-way crossover to help direct the music to the right speaker, as well as ACS’s soft silicone custom ear mould. Not only that, but even the cables have been designed by Danish micro cable specialist Estron (and use ACS’s Linum cable series) to deliver the finest sound, with the most dependable connection.
The George Martin Signature Series earphones are created in compliance with the EU noise at work legislation, and use a hearing dose management unit called HDMPro, which doesn’t allow the output to exceed a pre-set limit. Only 1000 units are set to be released, each priced at the equivalent of about $3,400. This includes a donation worth around $380, which as we’ve mentioned goes to the Action on Hearing Loss charity.
