After presenting the Cartier ID Two Concept Watch, during the same week, Cartier have yet revealed another stunning piece of time-measuring – the Cartier Astrotourbillon Carbon Crystal Watch. From what it seems to be an extremely busy week for Cartier, with the two extraordinary engineering marvels they’ve revealed, we’re now going to focus on the Astrotourbillon, as we’ve already presented you the ID Two.

Technically, exactly the way Cartier have accustomed us so far, this timepiece incorporates a huge deal of high tech and innovation. The elegant contraption is an heir of the Cartier ID One, just like the ID Two, a timepiece revealed during 2009. It perfectly points out the meaning of ID – Innovation and Development -, but, in a totally different manner from the ID One and Two, this piece is actually available for purchase to the worldwide audience.

thing is, just like its predecessor and its sibling, the Cartier Astrotourbillon Carbon Crystal Watch is a pavement plate on the long road the brings high end technology to our hands. It’s simply a way of expressing what is to become of technology and where will it lead us. Strongly connected to the Cartier ID One, it features parts that were firstly seen on the respective concept: a 47 mm niobium-titanium case, pallet and escapement that do not need any sort of lubrication and adjustments, and carbon crystal components, just like its name states.

The most important thing about this extremely exquisite timepiece is that it sports a carriage with its axis of rotation at the center of the movement – the Astrotourbillon, signed Cartier. In addition, showing the seconds, the off-center balance wheel bridge was designed and crafted to look like an arrow, completing a full rotation around the dial in exactly 1 minute.

Equipped with a power reserve of 50 hours, a 3 Hz frequency, tungsten carbide escapement pivots and accompanied by an incredibly strong history, Cartier’s Astrotourbillon Carbon Crystal Watch will be available in 2013, as limited edition, probably backed up by a 6-figure price tag.
