Fans of BMW worldwide will surely be pleased by the manufacturer’s latest project. They’ve recently unveiled the new 6-series Gran Coupe. This new version is a bit larger than the current 6 series coupe, while the looks of the car haven’t been greatly modified.
The newly added parts list includes 18-inch alloy wheels and xenon headlights. The interior is covered in Dakota leather, dual-zone automatic climate control and, of course, heated front seats. The boot is large enough to engulf high-volume luggage, up to 460 liters, while the seats are efficiently disposed in a “4+1” system.
The options list includes a Bang & Olufsen sound system, satellite-navigation and ceramic accents. The bonnet hides three different motorizations:
- The 640i is the middle, comprising a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-6 engine that develops 315 HP and 450 Nm torque. These permit the car to speed from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds up to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph)
- The 650i is the top of the series, with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that develops 443 HP and 650 Nm of torque, while the top speed remains limited to 250 km/h and the acceleration goes down to 4.6 seconds from 0-100 km/h
- The 640d is the quietest in this series, with a 3.0-liter diesel engine that lets out 309 HP and 630 Nm, while the acceleration is similar to the petrol-engine. The top speed is unchanged
The transmission relies on an 8-speed automatic system, regardless of the model. The cars come with rear-wheel drive, but 650i’s options list includes all-wheel-drive.
