Soon-to-be-divorced couple Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas have just listed their opulent home from Hancock Park, Los Angeles, for sale at a staggering $16.1 million. The palatial, 15,000 square-foot, estate has been bought by the couple back in 1999 for $4.2 million and a year later the couple has also bought the adjacent lot for $1.3 million.
They tore down the home on the second lot and combined the two lots to get a massive acre-and-a-half property, which is pretty rare in this exclusive area, with sweeping lawns and beautiful flower gardens. The lavish Italian revival estate has been designed by architect Gordon B. Kaufmann, who also designed the Hoover Dam.
The three-story estate features 13 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a two story banquet hall, a delightful dining room with hand-stenciled ceilings, a library, four fireplaces and even an inside elevator. And to show you that everyone loves this unique property, we could tell you that four years ago President Obama held a fundraiser here.
Unfortunately for Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas last year they’ve decided to file for divorce, ending an 18 year marriage that was admired a lot in Hollywood.
