For almost two decades now, Alienaware, a Dell subsidiary, has been creating high-end setups for gamers who want the best performance possible from their computers. The latest in a line of great products (which includes both desktops and laptops) is the Area-51 desktop gaming system.
Alienware’s new flagship features and eye-catching and innovative new chassis called the Triad, designed to not only look cool, but to also efficiently cool the machine.
The spec sheet for Area-51 is very impressive and will certainly keep you from thinking about upgrading for quite some time. The setup will be available with 6- or 8-core options of the new Intel Haswell-E Core i7 processors on the Intel X99 Express chipset. Each configuration will ship factory overclocked, there’s support for up to 32 GB of 2,133 MHz DDR4 RAM, while solid state and HDD hybrid storage options are available, with support for up to five drives.
Accompanying the release is a 34-inch curved display which reportedly requires less in-game eye movement than the more usual flat panel. The 60 Hz, 3,440 x 1,440 resolution UltraSharp monitor features an ultra-thin bezel and comes with integrated 9-watt stereo speakers and boasts HDMI 2.0, MHL, DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort connectivity.
The Alienware Area-51 will be available starting next month, while the UltraSharp monitor is set to be released later this year, in December. Pricing details have not been announced as of yet.
