Here’s another interesting collaboration: Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre and British designer Marc Newson have teamed up once again, for a new and unique interpretation of the brand’s iconic Atmos clocks. This time, a Baccarat crystal globe has been used to turn the Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 568 into a real work of art.
Transparent and simple, and seemingly running on perpetual motion, this clock’s mechanism appears to float freely into the air. We all know beauty knows no boundaries, not even those of physics and metal craftsmanship, so it’s not surprising that our desire to see this amazing mechanism working right in front of us, has inspired watchmakers to go beyond our knowledge and imagination.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 568 is the mechanical movement which powers this beauty, manufactured and assembled by hand, with 211 parts, an annular balance wheel, and oscillation period of 60 seconds. To show off this amazing caliber, Baccarat had the necessary technical expertise, and lengthy research to create 13 mm thick layers or magic, with a stunning crystal globe which acts as the case of this unique clock.
If you ask us, the movement is mesmerizing enough, without the sophisticated elegance of the cabinet that houses it, but the entire picture is even more appealing like this. Unfortunately there’s no clue on the price-tag for the Atmos 568, but we’re quite sure we’d love nothing more than count every second while drooling over this amazing mechanism.
