Italian manufacturer of exquisite motorbikes Moto Guzzi has been producing the California model for more than 40 years now, so it comes with a genuine need for a change. And it has just recently happened. Let’s check it out!

This two-wheeler is known in fact as the most famous European bike on the North American continent. The California, thereby, is a classic, having also been known as the official vehicle of the Los Angeles Police. I wonder if the Americans enjoy the latest version of it.

There are two models in fact, the Custom and the Tourer, both blending modern-day technology and classic looks. The California actually boasts state of the art stuff under its carapace, being reportedly ready for bookings and sales throughout the US, in outlets, to enthusiastic licensed riders.

The Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom ABS will bear a price tag of $14,990 and will be available in mercury grey and Basalt black. The Touring version will be priced at $17,990 though, available in Eldorado White and Ambassador Black.

The 2014 California has been fitted with the largest two-cylinder engine ever made in Europe, alongside electronic system Ride by Wire, LED lighting and all sort of more safety features. These motors are the best in their class, so they will be needing to provide great deals of comfort to their riders – the wheelbase, therefore, measures 1,685 millimeters. Technically-wise, the 1,380 cc engine delivers 120 Nm at 2,750 RPM and 96 HP at 6,500 RPM. The engine is now mated to a 6-speed transmission, while the number of accessories mounted on the bike has been greatly increased.

In case there are a few more adventures customers out there, Moto Guzzi has something very nice in store for them – a triple level MGCT traction level control, for better handling in tougher situations. There are also three power out modes, fit for different weather conditions – Veloce (Sport), Pioggia (rain mode) and Turismo (Touring).
