Frank Sinatra’s former New York pad is up for sale
Andy Warhol has curiously dubbed the penthouse a “glittering grotto in the sky”, because of its luxury and extravagance. It shares absolutely breathtaking views over New York’s East River and comprises a wraparound terrace, four bedrooms and four full bathrooms. Alongside these, the apartment has been endowed with all sorts of gorgeous and useful extras like a putting green, spiral staircase, private gym and so on.
The pad was the place where Frank Sinatra used to organize extravagant parties, where famous guests were invited, like Sammy Davis Jr., President John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, who used to reportedly drop champagne glasses on the expressway, loads of meters below the penthouse.
Sinatra’s stormy marriage with Mia Farrow, between 1966 and 1998, has partially unfolded within this Upper East Side penthouse, which was bought by Frank in the early ‘60s and was later sold in 1972. And now it’s waiting for new residents.
