H2 Speed

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the H2 Speed, Pininfarina’s latest extraordinary design concept and vision of what’s to come. Imagined as a high performance track car, this track-oriented vehicle is based on a revolutionary hydrogen fuel cell technology.

GreenGT, a company which has been developing clean propulsion systems since 2008, was responsible for the inovative technologies hiding underneath this sleek exterior. The H2 Speed has been described as a unique blend between a racing prototype and a production supercar, which seems to fit since this is the world’s first hydrogen, high-performance automobile.

Two years of research and development have resulted in a ravishing 503-hp supercar, with zero emissions and a heart-stopping top speed of 300 km/h. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) will take just 3.4 seconds, with fresh water coming out the pipes, all this time.

The H2 eliminates both air and noise pollution, but that doesn’t mean the high speed thrill is gone. It makes a unique sound, hinting towards performance and Sci-Fi movies at the same time. The sleek exterior is the result of efficiency-boosted aerodynamics, meaning that we get to look at uncompromising beauty with extreme performance capabilities right now.

The concept car was inspired by the original Ferrari Sigma Grand Prix Formula One show car, built back in 1969 by the renowned Italian coachbuilder. You’ve probably noticed the similar body colors and extreme proportions, but you have to wonder: will this incredible design ever get to enjoy a track day, as part of an official competition? We’d sure love to see it live.
