Have you ever heard of a carmaker named Vühl? The Mexican brand is ready to present its first ever production car – the Vühl 05. And everyone was able to study it on the occasion of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

This open-top 4-wheeler has been recently featured in a series of images and followed by exact specifications. According to Vühl, the 05 was designed to be a “lightweight supercar for road and track in the vein of the BAC Mono, Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow etc.”.

The Vühl 05 is reportedly built on a monocoque chassis with three-section bonded tub crafted from aluminium extrusions and aluminium honeycomb, weighing at around 78 kg (172 lbs). The body has been made of RTM reinforced plastic, while the optionals include carbon fiber panels. Dry, the car tips the scales at 695 kg (1,532 lbs).

In terms of propulsion, Vühl has asked Ford for their contribution. They’ve fitted it with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine from the Focus ST, but tuned to deliver a whopping 285 HP and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. The power/weight ratio therefore rises to a stunning 400 HP/tonne. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

Performance-wise, the Mexican brand Vühl states that the 05 is able to sprint from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h). Given the fact that it doesn’t even have a windshield, make sure you don’t do your hair too much before getting into the car. In addition to all the aforementioned, Vühl also adds a suspension with unequal length double wishbones, at both the front and rear, high ratio rack, pinion steering system, a set of 17-inch wheels wrapped in rubbers measuring 205/45 at the front and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 235/45 tires at the rear, alongside a 4-pot caliper braking system with 310 mm ventilated cross-drilled discs at the front and 280 mm ones at the rear.

In terms of “what should I pay for one?”, the story gets a bit more dramatic. Vühl officials are currently taking orders for first deliveries in the spring of 2014. The prices in the UK start at £55,000, plus shipping and taxes, which equivocates €65,000 or $84,000. The Vühl 05 will reportedly be sold first in the UK and North America, with intentions of spreading the sales towards the Middle-East, China, important European countries and many more.
