The German tuners from B&B, based in Siegen, have been working on an engine upgrade package for the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle. The top of the line engine of this car is a 2.0-liter TFSI engine, which is normally able to produce 200 HP and 280 Nm of torque. The guys at B&B worked on this fellow in such a way that it now delivers increased power in five different stages, as follows: 236 HP – 340 Nm torque, 247 HP, 261 HP, 191 HP and 316 HP – 310 Nm of torque.
The last one features a B&B supercharger, sport exhaust system with downpipe and catalytic converter and a charge air cooler. The car, equipped with this, will reach 62 mph from a standstill in 5.6 sec and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The package comes at a cost of €8,950.
The 1.4 TSI version of the Beetle, developing 158 HP, the modifications number an ECU upgrade for €998 which raises its power to 207 HP and 285 Nm of torque; the stage 2 comes at €1,498 and gets the engine to deliver 221 HP and 310 Nm, while the stage 3 features new air intake, sport exhaust and custom supercharger, all these lowering the working-temperature of the power-plant; the power reaches the 237 HP level with this package, while the torque has its maximum at 340 Nm. This last kit costs €5,950.
There are a few more upgrades available, for example a high-performance sport brake system available at €3,795 and wheels with diameters between 19-20-inches.
Though we weren’t fanatics towards the Beetle, neither the old nor the modern model, these upgrade packages will probably make them look way better and be a lot more fun.
