There have been plenty of stunningly beautiful jewelry collections released in 2014 and we’ve showcased many of them throughout the year. Not it’s time to get one more look at the very best ten we’ve seen this past year:
10. Unique Jewelry by Karen Karch
New York-based designer Karen Karch has drawn on her 25 years of experience in the field in order to create a stunning set of jewelry pieces for those who don’t mind sporting a more unconventional look.
While certainly eye-catching, one might find some of these items a bit difficult to include in your standard outfit. It’s not every day that your get to wear something like the Belgian Tiara Ring, which was inspired by a photo of Queen Elisabeth of Belgium wearing a tiara upside down on her head. This and other unusual designs and combinations are what gives this collection its undeniable allure.
9. Dentelle de Monogram by Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton is synonymous with elegance and you can see just why what is if you take a look at their Dentelle de Monogram collection.
The series features the brand’s iconic flower and star motifs and comprises necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. What all of these pieces have in common is the exquisite pattern of diamonds reminiscent of Victorian lace (called dentelle in French), which at a closer inspection reveals itself to being tiny diamond clusters shaped like flowers and stars, a pattern which covered the original Louis Vuitton steamer trunks.
8. Intriguing Rings with Secret Compartments by Theo Fennell’s
Jewelry is usually something purely decorative, but this intriguing collection by British designer Theo Fennell also has an element of playfulness to it.
The four rings comprising the release each has its own secret compartment, a feature inspired by the infamous 16th-century European poison rings. From the Wizard of Oz to Chinese mythology, each of the four pieces has a different source of inspiration and is adorned accordingly using various precious materials. Willard Wiggan, an English sculptor who specializes in miniature art, helped with the creation of these exquisite items of jewelry.
7. Jewelry with a Dramatic Element by Jewellery Theatre
Established in Moscow in 1998, Jewellery Theatre has made quite a name for itself in the high-end jewelry world. As its name suggests, the company has quite a thing for the dramatic, which is perfectly illustrated by the striking pieces it has released over the years.
While clearly focusing on the unusual shapes and eye-catching colors, the workmanship is certainly not lacking in any way. A lot of attention to detail has been put into each piece, making these memorable creations quite showy, but at the same time elegant and beautiful.
6. Flora and Fauna by Cartier
Nature is always a great source of inspiration for artists, as well as jewelry designers. Prestigious luxury brand Cartier has made the world of living creatures the inspiration of one of its most beautiful collections called Flora and Fauna.
The centerpiece of the entire release is perhaps the 18-carat pink gold bird necklace, a revisiting of a motif first showcased by Cartier back in 1942. The pendant is set with 20 brilliant-cut diamonds, lapis lazuli wings, amethyst cabochon, tsavorite garnet eye, and pink sapphire, and appears to be escaping its cage, thus serving as a symbol for optimism and freedom.
5. Aria by De Beers
Inspired by the grace and the energy of dancers, Aria is De Beers` first major jewelry collection since 2012. The British company is a hugely important name in the world of diamonds, so it’s not surprising their jewelry collection features a ridiculous amount of these highly coveted precious stones.
The central diamond is the element which immediately draws the eye. It is encircled by delicate white gold ribbons, something which creates an intriguing contrast between the precious metal and the diamond pavé layers.
4. Larry Legend by Larry Jewelry
Hollywood movie stars have always been icons of fashions, so it’s no wonder Larry Jewelry has drawn its inspiration from the fascinating Golden Age divas in order to create one of the year’s more remarkable jewelry collections.
Named “Larry Legend”, the collection focuses on vibrant fancy yellow diamonds and includes three different series of jewelry, named after some of the brightest stars of classical Hollywood: Audrey, Elizabeth, and Marilyn. Each series features exquisite rings and earrings made up of glittering gemstones of different shapes and sizes, with the fancy yellow diamonds at the heart of the pieces providing an extra touch of glamour.
3. Imperiale by Chopard
Swiss luxury brand Chopard has created one of the year’s most impressive collections: the Imperiale.
The most prominent feature of this release is its use of purple colored gemstones. This isn’t some random choice, either – for thousands of years, purple has been associated with the aristocracy, and was the imperial color during the time of the Romans. These stunning amethysts set within 18-carat rose gold rings and earrings, and surrounded by other, tiny precious stones, most notably diamonds. It is truly a collection fit for royalty.
2. Via Lattea by Damiani
We’ve seen some great jewelry collections inspired by nature or movies stars, but the one thing which, more than anything else, is both breathtaking and beautiful is the night sky with its myriad glittering lights.
This is precisely what moved Italian jeweler Damiani to create the Via Lattea (Milky Way) collection. Comprising rings, earrings, and bracelets, the set captures the magnificence of the night sky, with its brilliant combination of white, pink and burnished gold that blend perfectly with white, brown and grey diamonds, all brought together in a unique, splendid design.
1. Rêves d’Ailleurs by Boucheron
Prestigious jewelry-maker Boucheron has released an excellent collection celebrating its storied 150 years of history. And what better theme to choose for representing such an impressive journey than the theme of travel!
The collection is called Rêves d’Ailleurs (Dreams of Elsewhere) and comprises five chapters, each made up of beautiful precious stones reminiscent of Boucheron’s most famous works. These pieces have been rediscovered and reworked, and are now perfect for enhancing the outfit of the modern jewelry aficionado.
