Some might have already heard of the Volocopter and its 18 rotor multi-copters, an innovative flying machine which took the world by storm last year; but it seems it’s already time for an upgrade. That’s why we’re now introducing the Volocopter 2X, a project which took six years to develop and marks the evolution of the VC200 prototype.
One step closer to everyday use and packing a revolutionary battery replacement system, the 2X also incorporates glazed doors and upholstered leather seats. Able to accommodate two passengers, this cool e-multicopter will be either controlled via a remote or fly completely autonomously. The Volocopter 2X will be also capable of vertical take-off and landing, with electricity and nothing else keeping it above the ground.
Completely autonomous flights have been talked about for a while now, and regulations might slow this development process down, at least a bit, but this unique concept is going to be a game changer for sure. Even though it’s super light and it’s probably going to be incredibly easy to maneuver, it will be a lot more exciting without any pilot, as you stand there and enjoy the view, while technology takes care of the rest.
One way or another, the Volocopter 2X will become available on the German market in 2018 and the company is already working on its next best thing – a 4-seater e-copter with international approval.
