Located in one of the most beautiful and exotic places on the planet, in Sanya, Hainan, this incredible vessel is anchored off the coast of the South China Sea-based Mandarin Oriental resort. The owner of Northern Sun Yacht has sent invitations to famous people around the world to come and check on this 51 meter superyacht, and that’s how we found about this masterpiece.

The Hainan Rendezvous has taken place during the last week, a four-day event that attracted wealthy Chinese people to the shores of Sanya for intensive networking, lifestyle discovery, exquisite shopping and grandiose entertainment. The Northern Sun awaited the delegation, inviting the editor onto its luxurious deck.

The yacht’s ice strengthened hull amazes with its balanced yet strong structure. Fit for long cruises, the azure-painted hull gorgeously blends into the color of the sea’s waters, carrying a lavish set of decks above. Beginning from the aft deck, we instantly notice breathtaking panoramas, plus a load of lavishness and lightness this vessel provides its guests with.

This concept goes on inside, as the grand saloon occupies most of the main deck’s interior. Decked with exquisite armchairs, cozy L-shaped sofas and being an intimate lounge area, it shares free views of the outskirts and platonically sends out invitations for guest to get in and relax.

Going on through a port side corridor we find the central portion of the saloon deck. Generally painted in fresh green and contrasting with dark lacquered woods, it brings forth a modern oriental look and atmosphere. The sitting room here sports a huge sofa and a large armchair. In addition, the oriental style is enhanced by the naturally reddish-brown Makore woods used almost as a general foundation, accompanied by Nara flooring.

The interior of the fore saloon boasts fresh color detailing, within the upholstery and ceilings, with tones of reds, gold and green. From here, an open staircase acts as the path towards the lower deck, where the second saloon is found. It includes the dining area, with a huge central-placed dining table that can host ten guests and a lighting that increases both the romance and appetite. It also emanates a private atmosphere, feeling as an extension of the main saloon. It can fit both informal and formal parties.

The dining area covers the port side area of the lower deck saloon, while the starboard side has been decorated as an office and lounging area. The guests’ cabins are split into three doubles, one of them with an additional Pullman, and two twin cabins. Every cabin sports its own en suite bathroom, sharing impressive views, plus cream colored carpets. Furthermore, upstairs from a multipurpose cabin, there is the sun deck, which can also be used as an extra office area.

There’s also an art collection currently onboard the ship, with a maritime theme as its central idea. The owner’s quarters are located ahead of the lower deck dining room and saloon area, almost bragging about its privacy. The most opulent suite on the great Northern Sun is the owner’s stateroom and sports two office areas, a large bed and en suite bathroom.

Overall the yacht can offer accommodation for up to 12 guests plus a crew of between 12 and 14. Two decent sized tenders, like the ACS 2.8-meters Hammerhead RIB or the SEAT 219. They can also take you far, to the horizon, to practice water-skiing, not to mention the whole collection of items for different purposes.

In terms of control, this boat is brilliant. Its absolutely huge draft keeps the boat afloat and cozy.  Reportedly for sale at the moment, it actually costs a whopping $15 million.
