Single-malt “scotch” whiskey and bespoke watches go extremely well together; of course, we could think about something – or someone – else that might be missing from this equation, but that’s a discussion for another time. For now, let’s just focus on the unique collaboration between the acclaimed watchmaker Urwerk and Scotch whiskey distillery The Macallan.
What resulted from this surprising partnership is a high-tech flask for single malts, with the Macallan x Urwerk Flask having been machined from aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel. The wonderful flask shows off an intricate design, covered by a hinged, sprung screw cap, with a cask indicator describing the type of whiskey in each tank.
The cap connecting arm has hidden 1 mm “ball clickers”, and two titanium chambers allow two different expressions to be carried at once. A spring-loaded directional mouthpiece, crafted from stainless steel, switches between the two tanks and makes sure no precious drop is wasted.
Speaking of which, a cask-type wheel and a whiskey age wheel will display exactly the age and wood flavor to ensure you remember which aroma you will be experiencing. The Macallan x Urwerk Flask is a limited edition flask, which means only 500 pieces will be available, each of which will be costing £2,000 (US $2,460).
