The Lotus Exige Sport 380 is a proud example of sophistication and incredible racing engineering in one stunning vehicle. It’s the lightest and most aggressive version of the iconic British mid-engined sports car, able to do 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.7sec) and continue towards a maximum speed of 178 mph (286 km/h).
According to Lotus, this new Exige weighs in at just 1,066kg. thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber throughout the car, with a new front splitter, a revised front access panel, a new rear wing and a rear diffuser surround being just a few of the parts which made the magic possible. Also worth mentioning are the new polycarbonate rear window, the carbon race seats, a lithium-ion battery and an ultra-light forged wheel.
Powering up this beauty is a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter supercharged V6, which has been improved upon to develop 375 hp and 410Nm (302lb-ft) of torque. A revised supercharger pulley joined in for the ride, and an updated fuel pump, a recalibrated ECU and a new exhaust system also contribute to this stunning output.
The increased capacity of the fuel tank is bound to come in handy. True drivers will also appreciate the manual gearbox, with a six-speed unit mated to the Lotus engine to deliver faster and cleaner gear changes. Made out of lightweight machined and cast aluminum, this gearbox is complemented by a new oil cooler.
The improved aerodynamics allow the Lotus Exige Sport 380 to look more aggressive than ever, while bragging with about 60 percent more downforce over the Sport 350 model. Customers can have their very own Exige Sport 380 in one of ten individual colors, while the Track Pack option adds a set of Nitron two-way adjustable dampers, with pricing starting off at £67,900 in the UK or €89,900 in Germany.
