The specialists at Audi have recently released a special edition version of the Audi R8, manufactured especially for the Chinese market. The Audi R8 China Edition is poised to delight the affluent Chinese driving enthusiasts and Audi have done their best to make it near perfect.
It follows the majestic lines of the regular R8, but it has been further garnished with a cool Nordic gold exterior paintjob. According to Audi, the car will only be produced in 30 units, each one of them being simply astounding.
Decked with a set of 19 inch wheels, with 5 twin spoke Y design in titanium, the golden look of the R8 China Edition is completed by a set of matt black lightweight tail pipes and rear and front intakes and outlets, alongside a stunning rear bumper, front and rear slats, new radiator grille surround and bars in matt titanium grey. Additionally, refined touches of carbon matt have been applied to the sideblades, exterior mirrors, enlarged diffuser and front spoiler.
And there’s the interior, which brings aluminum touches and a limited edition number on the gear knob, proving the car’s exclusivity. We can’t really comprehend why, but the cars will be numbered from 1 to 33, except the numbers 24, 14 and 4. In addition, Audi have added some black Alcantara with contrasting touches inside, like on the sports bucket seats, the stitching on the knee pad in shark skin black, console inlays and door trim inserts. The door sill trims boast aluminum inserts and the typical R8 logo, while the instrument cluster has received black dials and another R8 emblem.
And here comes the fun part, the propulsion system. An extremely lightweight 5.2-liter V10 mid engine is tied to the permanent quattro 4WD system casual to Audis with rear biased setup. This allows the driver to ride with the automatically controlled manual gearbox “R tronic” – which accelerates from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a whopping 2.9 seconds. Sadly, there’s no info on the price!
