It took over seven years, but Pernot Ricard has finally revealed the latest addition to the Chivas Regal range of blended Scotch whiskies, a super-premium release called Chivas Regal Extra.
Created as a tribute to James and John Chivas, the two brothers who pioneered the art of blending whisky in the 19th Century, by master blender Colin Scott, the Chivas Regal Extra is crafted from whiskies matured in Oloroso sherry casks together with the rarest and finest malts in the Chivas inventory. The blend, according to the veteran craftsman, has a fruity, sweet nose with notes of ripe pears, creamy toffee and a hint of ginger, spicy cinnamon, and almonds.
In the US, Chivas Regal Extra will be available in select markets, including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Northern California, and Texas. Pricing is somewhere around $70 per unit.
