We’ve been anxiously awaiting details of the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster for months now and we’re delighted to say they’re finally here. Let’s just pass the amazement on. The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster features a hard top that can be easily removed by hand in a short while, weighing just about 13 lbs (6 kg).
Having been crafted from carbon fiber, it used the renowned Forged Composite technology through which a lighter and stronger material than titanium has been created. The amazing supercar is powered by the same V12 6.5-liter normally aspirated engine with start/stop system and cylinder deactivation, tied to a state of the art 7 speed automatic transmission.
If the roof top is not dismounted, it can reach a maximum speed of 349 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3 seconds. The engine cover has been fitted with a spinal column with two lines of hexagonal windows, while the scissors doors have been fitted with chamfered edges for the frameless windows, resulting in a tight finish into the roof crafted from carbon fiber.
The rear pillars of the Aventador have had to undergo some modifications due to the Roadster conversion, providing additional resistance and sturdiness when driving with the roof down. They can also add to the car’s ventilation towards the power unit and provide improved rollover protection.
The engineers behind Lamborghini have also installed a powered rear windscreen which can control the airflow above the vehicle, in addition to modifying the level of noise delivered by the engine. The front windscreen was topped by a wind deflector which delivers “almost complete calm” in the cabin, according to Lamborghini specialists, even when with the roof down.
Furthermore, the Roadster version has been decked with a set of exclusive 20 inch alloys at the front and 21 inch ones at the rear, which lower the weight of the vehicle by a whopping 22 lbs (10 kg), while the exterior has been garnished with a two-tone one-off finish.
