The Virage series of Aston Martins will reportedly be interrupted for a while, to clear the way for a new, upgraded version of the DB9 model. The 2013MY series puts together the chassis technology from the Vanquish and the styling and design from the Virage. The model will be available as both coupé and convertible, the Volante.
The new DB9 is coming equipped with a carbon-ceramic braking system as standard, alongside the Touchtronic 2 6-speed transmission. It weighs a whopping 3,935 pounds and boasts with a 50/50 weight distribution. The ride is assisted by a set of 20 inch 5-spoke cast alloy silver rims shod in Pirelli P Zero rubbers.
Inside, the look has pretty much been preserved, following the general style of Aston Martin. The backup camera comes as standard. And then we head under the bonnet, which hides the latest version of the Aston Martin V12 engine – a 6.0-liter beast that delivers 510 HP (380 kW) at 6,500 RPM and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque at 5,500 RPM.
Therefore, the new DB9 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 295 km/h (183 mph). The 2013MY though is 40 HP (30 kW) and 19 Nm (14 lb-ft) more potent than the previous model, while outmatching the almost extinct Virage by 20 HP (15 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
Happily, the 2013 Aston Martin DB9 is already available for order, while deliveries are due to start in Western Europe and the United Kingdom during October. The stock, standard model will bear a price tag of 21,995,999 JPY in Japan, $185,400 in the United States, £131,995 in the UK and €174,994 in Germany.
