Like so many great ideas, the Star superyacht project started at a doodle on a napkin and is now a concept rapidly taking shape, which could soon become reality.
A massive 433 feet (132 meters) in length and 196 feet (60 meters) in height, Star could be a billionaire’s playground on the sea, or it could be an ultra-luxurious floating hotel. Either way, those on board, as well as those admiring it from a distance, will certainly be impressed.
According to James Roy, Yacht Design Director of BMT Nigel Gee (one of the entities involved in the ship’s design and development), “Star is a tangible view of a 21st century interpretation of art and science”, a great example of how technology can help bring to life a designer’s most outlandish dreams.
Star can reach a top speed of about 18 knots, has a range of over 5,000 nautical miles at 14 knots, and offers more than 3,500 square-feet of interior space. The superyacht has four lifts providing easy access to the eight decks, with lifts one and three actually going from a sub-marine viewing area to another viewing area on a platform on the eighth deck, from which breathtaking ocean vistas are available.
