With a number of Xbox and especially HTC alumni along its founders, it’s no surprise Gogoro is a sleek and sophisticated machine, with a futuristic design and state-of-the-art capabilities. Described as the world’s first Smartscooter, the innovative electric two-wheeler might just be the next big thing in urban transportation.
In addition to its great looks (see the gallery below!), Gogoro also boasts some pretty respectable technical specs. The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 95 km/h (60 mph), with an autonomy of about 100 km (60 miles). Tipping the scales at just 247 lbs (112 kg), Gogoro is designed using cutting-edge aerospace analysis tools and features high-end, lightweight materials, making it one of the most advanced means of transportation on wheels right now.
The cloud-connected vehicle is equipped with a total of 55 sensors, covering everything from torque to light levels, and working together to optimize your ride. There’s also a smartphone app which allows users to stay connected with their scooter at all times.
What’s perhaps most ambitious (and, we’re guessing, will soak up most of the $150 million the project has raised so far) is the plan to convince the world’s megacities to create a network of GoStations, where Gogoro can swap depleted batteries with fully charged ones in as little as 6 seconds.
