Only a few of today’s signal amplifiers and preamplifiers are truly bespoke and can catch experts’ eyes. From all these, a newly launched preamplifier from Antelope Audio really stands out from the crowd. We’ve been astonished by the new Rubicon preamplifier from Antelope, which surprisingly incorporates a 10M Rubidium atomic clock.

This special characteristic easily makes the device the world’s first atomic digital preamplifier, automatically putting it in a separate category of high-tech devices. The main reason behind this impressive addition is that the Rubidium clock confers the amplifier way more stability than the regular crystal oscillators.

To make it simpler, we’ll say that stability removes jitteriness. The Rubidium clock is reportedly 100,000 times more stable than any regular crystal oscillator, co-working perfectly with the innovative 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking technology.

There are additional features, almost as stunning as the atomic clock technology, that accompany this particular preamplifier, such as the high sample rate for A/D conversion and the 384 kHz DAC that allows the capture of the genuine sound of the analog recorded audio tracks, converting them into any digital formats via the USB recording mode – this allows for a long term keeping of the track’s originality, for decades to come.

The device features a sturdy aluminum machined chassis, home of the phono preamplifier, gold-plated relay volume control and dual stage headphone drivers. The prices and availability are currently unknown, but the machine is due to be publicly presented at the Munich High-End Show, from the 3rd until the 6th of May 2012 – a heaven for discerning audiophiles.
