One of the most iconic vehicles of all time, the wonderful Alpine sports car, is back on our radar with a fresh take. It’s no secret that Renault has been working extremely hard in these last couple of years to come up with a worthy successor of this classic racing icon, and now it’s finally out in the open.
Called Alpine A110, Renault’s resurrected winner looks quite similar to the Vision Concept which teased our eyes a while ago, and it’s apparently ready to take on the likes of the Alfa Romeo 4C and Porsche 718 Cayman. A strong competition indeed, but the Alpine sports cars always managed to surprise us all.
The A110 is based on a successful recipe and shows off a full aluminum platform and upper body, with obvious benefits in weight and driving dynamics. Despite unveiling their first product in decades, Alpine are keeping key specifications hidden from us until the vehicle makes its public debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in just a few days.
In the meantime, we can focus on the few pics we are allowed to drool over, and previous intel that suggests the all-new Alpine A110 could feature a 1.8-liter turbo engine, capable of developing anywhere between 250 and 300 ponies. with 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) figures being estimated at around 4.5 seconds.
It seems that Alpine has already started taking orders for the Premiere Edition of this beauty, with a €2,000 ($2,115) deposit asked to secure one of the first cars. We’ll keep you updated with new details as soon as we find out more info from Renault.
