Porsche has officially confirmed their partnership with Martini announcing that the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder, scheduled to be released on the market in the first months of 2014, is going to be dressed in the Martini Racing livery. The interior of the car will remain as it is, the Martini Racing livery being limited to the vehicle’s exterior.
It is a tribute to all Porsche competitors that have won various competitions as time went by – a good example is the 1973 Targa Florio, winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours race back in 1971. Enthusiasts know that the Porsche 917 was one of the most prominent cars in the history of the fabled brand, having won the 1971 World Sports Car Manufacturer’s Championship.
The collaboration between Martini and Porsche has known a peak success especially during the 1970s, with the 911 and 936 winning important competitions like the 1976 & 1977 Le Mans 24 Hours and, respectively, the 1973 Targa Florio.
The production of the 918 Porsche model will reportedly start during September 2013, being the sole Porsche version ever sold with fully-licensed paintwork. It would have been a pity otherwise.
