The people over at ATS (Automobili Turismo e Sport) seem to have a penchant for reviving classic cars from the 1960s. A while ago, we’ve showcased the 2500 GT. Now, the Italian carmaker has just unveiled the ATS Leggera.

Reminiscent of a barchetta sports car from the 60s, the ATS Leggera (which is Italian for lightweight) tips the scales at a measly 1433 pounds and is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-pot with either 210 hp or 240 hp (depending on the version) and 295 Nm (218 lb ft) of torque. This combination makes for a very agile car, which can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 136 mph. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual, but it seems that the manufacturer will also offer a straight cut gearbox and/or a six-speed sequential gearbox on request.

The two variants we’ve mentioned earlier are called Leggera 300 and Leggera 365, numbers which represent the power to weight ratio of each model. There’s also a third, more powerful model called the ATS 420 Super Leggera SS, which is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.2-liter Honda Spoon engine with 290 hp at a 9,000 rpm. This impressive vehicle will only be available as part of a limited edition of just 5 units.
