Longines and Kate Winslet

When you think of Kate Winslet or Longines, elegance is one of the first words that come to mind – that’s exactly why the Oscar-winning actress has been named the Ambassador of Elegance for the renowned Swiss watchmaking brand exactly six years ago, back in 2010.

In the same year, Kate Winslet has also co-founded The Golden Hat Foundation, together with Margret Ericsdottir, a non-profit organisation which is focused on changing the way people on the autism spectrum are perceived, shining a light on their unique abilities and emphasizing their immense potential.

Kate and Margret have first met while she was filming the documentary A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism, which focused on Margret’s talented son, Keli Thorsteinsson, who is autistic and non-verbal.

Shortly after, they’ve both decided to work on this admirable cause, and they’ve been actually inspired by a poem written by Thorsteinsson for the name of the organization, where a magical golden hat had the ability to speak for its protagonist, who was unable to speak.

On the other hand, Swiss watch brand Longines also has a long tradition of supporting worthy causes and the brand’s deeply held values are fully in line with those demonstrated by Kate Winslet through the Golden Hat Foundation, that’s why Longines has spontaneously decided to support this non-profit organization, in the most beautiful way possible.

The famous Swiss watchmaking company has invited Kate Winslet to the brand’s head office in Saint-Imier for the very first time, where the elegant actress selected a watch that will be re-issued throughout the year, with all the proceeds from the sales of this watch going to the Golden Hat Foundation.

During her visit in the charming Swiss town of Saint-Imier, Kate Winslet has also visited the wonderful Longines Museum, where she took a journey through time, looking at some of the most iconic timepieces designed by the Longines.

This is where she found an elegant timepiece belonging to the Flagship Collection that captured her full attention, and it was decided that this particular watch would be the one that would be re-issued for a good cause.

That’s the perfect way of honoring the 6 years in which Kate Winslet has been the Longines Ambassador of Elegance and also her amazing work for the Golden Hat Foundation.
