TAG Heuer Connected Gold

Back in November 2015, TAG Heuer unveiled the Connected Watch, a luxurious smart watch that featured existing technology from Google and Intel, while also showing off the appealing look of a traditional wristwatch. But the Swiss watchmaker has decided to take its Connected Watch to the next level, unveiling a $9,900 solid rose gold version of this timepiece.

Although seemingly expensive and somewhat useless, this smart watch is not actually looking to compete with the likes of Apple Watch or Samsung Gear, but it’s more focused on allowing a few users to taste the delicious flavor that is TAG Heuer and their mechanical magic. What’s really cool is that, after two years of owning a TAG Connected Watch, you may upgrade to a similar mechanical watch.

TAG Heuer is a luxury brand, so a gold watch isn’t all that unusual is it? I guess it’s all a game of possibilities, and the company designed this special version just because it could; purists, on the other hand, might take offense of this bold move, but to be honest, many didn’t even know that TAG had anything to say in the smartwatch world.

So, all in all, you may consider this a win, although a short-lived one that reminds us that anything is possible. We now get to look at probably the world’s most elegant smartwatch, and then we can return to the Swiss universe of watchmaking and mechanical marvels – as it should be.
