As hybrid engine technology gets better and better, and people become increasingly environmentally conscious, we’re getting to see these kinds of propulsion systems in more and more vehicles we weren’t expecting to just a few years ago. High-end companies like Bentley and even Lamborghini have unveiled hybrid concepts, so it’s maybe about time we’d also see this technology on the high seas. Dutch shipbuilder Feadship seems to have wanted to get ahead of that trend and has designed and built Savannah, the world’s first hybrid superyacht.

The 83.5-meter vessel features a streamlined hull with a superstructure that incorporates, composite panels, polished stainless steel strips, aluminum supports, and teak, and has enough room to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests and between 22 and 26 crew members. The distinctive, stylish Sea Foam metallic green exterior color scheme required weeks of work using special mixing machines and an electrically-charged spray gun in a climate-controlled tent to lay the metallic flakes properly. Also worth noting is the fact that the aft owner area and main deck are a single enclosed space sealed with weathertight sliding doors.

Savannah has recently been launched with a James Bond-themed ceremony in the presence of her new owner and the people involved in the yacht’s three year long construction. According to Feadship, Savannah will be available for occasional charter.
