As we’ve said before, the Dutch aren’t particularly well known for making cars, but when they do, it seems they prefer to go for a more vintage look. Last year, we’ve seen Frank van Rouendal’s Silvermine 11SR and Carice’s MK1 electric vehicle, now it’s time to showcase the awesome-looking D8 GTO Bilster Berg Edition by Donkervoort.
Based on the car manufacturer’s D8 GTO model, a modern replica of the iconic Lotus Seven, the new vehicle is a special edition named after the Bilster Berg track in Germany, which also comes with a host of improvements compared to the standard version. Many of these are purely cosmetic, like the new front fascia with carbon fiber slates, new badges, and revised roll cage. The inside, on the other hand, has a digital instrument cluster, a data logger, and Sat-Nav.
The D8 GTO Bilster Berg is equipped with new springs and dampers and semi-slick Hankook tires, while the powerplant is a 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder engine borrowed from Audi. While Donkervoort hasn’t revealed much in terms of technical specifications, expect the figures to be similar to those of the RS3 (which is comes with a similar engine) – 367 PS and 34 lb-ft of torque.
Donkervoort will release the D8 GTO Bilster Berg as a limited edition of just 14 units, with prices for the vehicle starting at €194,000 (including VAT), or the equivalent of about $230,000.
