A. Lange & Söhne has recently unveiled the new Zeitwerk Minute Repeater watch, as part of its 200th anniversary, a watch that celebrates musical harmony and the instruments crafted in Saxony for centuries. The stylish horological work of art is meant to adorn your wrist while offering an exceptional musical experience, as well.
The famed Swiss luxury watchmaker made sure the mechanism chimes a low-pitched tone for each hour, a double tone for each elapsed ten-minute period, and a high-pitched tone for each elapsed minute. The time as sounded corresponds exactly to the time as displayed, and if the sounds are subtle, the aesthetics are exquisite.
Special measuring technologies and a musically trained ear are necessary ‘tools’ for the process of developing and adjusting the individual acoustic parameters of this watch. It was a bit of a challenge to get everything down to perfection: the volume, acoustic purity, the rhythm and cadence of the sounds. For example, the gongs are tuned exclusively by hand until they thoroughly harmonize with each other.
Since its launch, the 2015 Zeitwerk Minute Repeater has been already awarded the first prize at the “Premio Tiempo de Relojes 2015” in the category for high-complication watches – “Alta complicación” and if nothing else we’ve said here impressed you at all, this musical timepiece should really do the job.
