Chanel has recently launched a brand new collection of jewellery dubbed the Sous le Signe du Lion and it looks absolutely fantastic. Thematically surrounding the leader of the animal kingdom, the lion, the collection not only exudes its magnificence, but its beauty as well.
An ode to the zodiac sign of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, which is seemingly important to her, the entire collection comprises a whopping 58 pieces of jewellery, all manufactured with glamour and top-of-the-line quality. It sports necklaces, watches, bracelets, rings, brooches and many more, all of them grandiose and beautiful by style. For example, the collection includes a ring with the head of the lion as central theme. This particular piece is set in diamonds and made of white gold.
A massive diamond bracelet is yet again set on the motif of the lion and it’s quite a looker in my opinion. Let’s get to the specifically appointed pieces – I’m starting with the Lion Rugissant, a ring which has already had me jaw-dropped. It is garnished with a lion figure that appears to be readying his pounce. Decked with white gold, it is superbly fitted with diamonds and onyx. The Lion Céleste is yet another thing of beauty – a gorgeous brooch crafted from white gold and embellished with diamonds. It represents the lion of Venice found in the apartment of Mademoiselle Chanel – paw posing on the terrestrial Globe.
The highlight of the collection is the Chanel Lion Royal necklace, done in platinum, with diamonds and white gold. It’s a staggering piece, convertible into a sautoir or a shorter necklace, while the motif of the lion’s head can be detached and worn as a separate brooch. Yet, let’s mention the mosaic-styled necklace, which is completely set with diamonds and sports a fabulously hidden lion figure. There’s also a piece to go with this particular necklace – a delicately made brooch which is as well set in diamonds and made of white gold. The most interesting thing of it all though is that the Sous le Signe du Lion high-end jewellery collection also includes the first ever jewel to be crafted in Chanel’s own high jewellery ateliers, which was reportedly opened during 2012.
