It’s hard to tell whether the following pieces are watches or items of jewelry, which incidentally tell the time – which is perhaps what you’d expect from something created by Chanel. Dubbed Les Éternelles, this high-end jewelry collection was showcased during this year’s Baselworld and are aimed at those who aren’t satisfied with “normal” luxury timepieces. The release comprises three stunning secret watches, each handmade in Chanel’s ateliers in Paris, at the Place Vendôme.
First in the series is the Camilla watch, inspired by Coco Chanel’s favorite flower. It features three camellia flower motifs on the cuff, and is embellished with 45 carats worth of pave diamonds. The piece reveals its “secret” at the push of one of the smaller flowers, with displaces a larger camellia and thus reveals a dial paved with 34 baguette diamonds.
Then there’s the Comet Secret Watch, studded with diamonds and sapphires which create an image of the starry sky and with its constellations. Pressing one of these stars moves the comet, which once again reveals a secret dial paved with baguette sapphires.
Finally, the Plume Secret Watch boasts a diamond-set feather resting on the cuff, with a series of tiny pink sapphires around it. By pressing the feather, you reveal the secret dial paved with pink baguette sapphires.
