It’s hard to say exactly which camera is the best. Not only is there no standard for something like that, but also, different photographer have different needs, making any comparison between equipment (unless you’re simply comparing technical specs) very hard to make. But if it’s a huge number of megapixels you’re looking for, look no further than the new Canon 5DS 50.6MP DSLR.
The package actually includes two cameras: in addition to the 5DS itself, there’s also the 5DS R, which comes with a low-pass filter allowing for images that are crisper than those captured by the filtered version. This means that, while the 5DS is perfect for still images (landscapes, architecture), photos taken by the 5DS R will be sharper.
Both models, of course, come with the groundbreaking 50.6 megapixel sensor, which will produce the largest images (and file sizes) of any current 35mm DSLR. So if very large, very detailed photos are what you want (for billboards, bus wraps, or art prints), and you have the storage space and processing power to deal with them, Canon’s latest release is exactly what you need.
The Canon 5DS comes with a price tag of $3,699, while the 5DS R costs $3,899. Both will be available starting this spring.
