German tuner Brabus has unveiled their latest project, a reworking of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG.
If you have a distinct feeling of déjà vu, you’re not wrong – this isn’t the first time the company has modified an S63 AMG. Nevertheless, the people at Brabus seem to have thought they could do one better, so they applied a satin gold exterior finish and added a few carbon fiber aftermarket body parts, giving the vehicle a more aggressive (not to mention luxurious) look, without going overboard with the decorative features. Same can be said about the interior, which also has a new 400 km/h speedometer (to match the extra power the new model has unlocked) and a carbon fiber trim.
The car has the same twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter engine, upgraded by Brabus to output a massive 850 hp (625 kW) at 5,400 rpm and 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft) of torque in the 2,500 – 4,500 rpm range. This allows the modified S63 AMG to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds (4 seconds for the 4MATIC version), on its way to a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h) – significantly more than the 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed the standard version was (electronically) limited to.
