A record setting price indeed and a lot of luxury – this is what you’ll get if you’re ready to buy the most expensive apartment in New York. The $100 million price tag stands in front of a staggering 8,000 square feet of exquisiteness, incredibly beautiful panoramas and a location worthy of praise – atop the City Spire building, above the idyllic Central Park.

This octagon-shaped luxury penthouse occupies the 73rd, 74th and 75th floors of the exquisite sky-scraper. It comprises a wrap-around terrace on each of its floors offering all-around views of New York and a total of 135 windows, providing the best urban views to date.

Some even say that it’s the highest outdoor space in any city residence, which would be quite an achievement if it were proven. Juan Pablo Molyneaux tended to the interior design, having worked for no less than two and a half years in order to outfit this beautiful apartment in its obvious classical style. It thus sports six bedrooms and a whopping nine bathrooms, media room, formal gallery, conference room and a stunning, 20-person dining room.

The 75th floor is entirely occupied by the master suite and boasts with a bathroom garnished with mahogany finishes, bronze fixtures and hunter green marble. In addition, on the 72nd floor curious eyes may find a guest apartment with a 400 square feet bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and fine wine cellar that can contain up to 1,000 wine bottles. Besides the main elevator, there’s an additional private internal elevator exclusively working for the three stories of the apartment.

What’s even more staggering is the penthouse’s location – on the 56th Street between the 6th and 7th Avenues, atop the City Spire building. The famous building is almost an entertainment center of its own, boasting with a fitness center with a pool measuring 50 feet, 24-hour doorman and garage. All these are being topped by the finest shopping centers on the Fifth Avenue, while the surroundings of the building provide the best dining spots in New York.

Taking a peek into the past, we need to mention the penthouse was initially bought by Steven Klar, a New York real estate developer, in 1993, for around $4.5 million and has spent roughly the same fortune in renovation and restoring.

We’re not sure if this is ironical or a real reason, but the owner of the apartment motivates the sale through family reasons, stating that his 5-year old son “could potentially get out on the terraces” – quite an intriguing reason indeed. At the moment the listing can be found at Raphael de Niro – the son of Robert de Niro – and Victoria Logvinsky of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
