Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is one of the most iconic and recognizable watches of all time. These days, the beautiful double-faced watch is celebrating its 85th birthday, with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon watch being the celebrating method of choice.

The limited edition platinum watch isn’t the first Gyrotourbillon Reverso timepiece, but it might just be the most impressive yet. Eric Coudray developed the Gyrotourbillon a while back, a wonderful two-axis tourbillon set within a spherical cage, that was taken to the next level with this lovely watch.

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon benefits from a new Gyrotourbillon movement, with the in-house manual winding Calibre 179, which is 30% lighter than its predecessor and comes with an external driving mechanism.

The bi-axial flying tourbillon features two carriages, as well as an anchor-shaped balance wheel, designed to evoke the brand’s logo. Limited to only 75 pieces, this Reverso also comes with blued steel Dauphine hands, a wonderful sunburst guilloché pattern on the dial, as well as a graduated disc which rotates at the cadence of the Gyrotourbillon.

The thin, engraved movement, easily proves the incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail that was involved in this project. As such, this is easily a watch you should really get your hands on, although we can’t tell you how much it would set you back. But, that’s beside the point, really.
