The “Clé de Cartier” Mysterious Hour watch is a new exquisite men’s watch from Cartier, which is actually a combination of three existing Cartier elements: the new Clé de Cartier watch collection case, the in-house made Cartier caliber 9981 MC and the very familiar semi-skeletonized dial.
Made from 158 parts, the 4.61 mm thick 9981 MC movement operates at a modern 4Hz and has a power reserve of 48 hours. The interior space is dedicated to the sapphire crystals decorating the hours and minutes, with the transparent dial offering a view right through the watch, making the Clé Mysterious Hour to appear even larger than it normally is.
The case of this beautiful Clé de Cartier Mysterious Hour is 41 mm wide, just 11.25 mm thin and made of 18k pink gold as well as 950 palladium. The pink gold version might look more luxurious, but the palladium model adds more class to this elegant timepiece. And that off-centered “mystery” display seems to match the blue-filled Cartier-style Roman dial perfectly.
Cartier is adding an impressive assortment of both men’s and women’s watches to the Clé collection and in less than a year, the renowned label has released Clé watches ranging from simple time-only automatics to complex timepieces with flying tourbillons (for women).
Obviously, there’s plenty to choose from, but this particular version is discreet, stylish and somewhat futuristic. I love it!
